Power Platform Developer II

The Power Platform Developer is responsible for the development of low code applications and automations, day-to-day maintenance and enhancements pertaining to Seaspan’s portfolio of Power Platform applications, including tasks related to identifying and troubleshooting application issues.
Ensures that all changes are made in accordance with Seaspan’s lifecycle methodology, version control, testing, governance, and risk guidelines. Works closely with the Technical Lead, Power Platform, and the Business Analyst to develop solutions for Shipyards clients, including participation in requirements analysis, testing and continuous improvement meetings.

Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you’ll do

• Delivers solutions for Shipyards clients using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate); outputs will include automated workflows and low code applications.
• Works collaboratively with the Technical Lead, Power Platform, the Business Analyst and Shipyard clients in the design and implementation of Power Platform based solutions.
• Works closely with the Systems Analyst to support the Shipyard clients in the use of Microsoft Power Platform applications (Power Apps and Power Automate)
• Actively contributes across all phases of the software development life cycle.
• Performs evaluations of end user adoption and works with end users to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Partners with cross-functional technology and design teams to ensure consistent, positive client interaction and solution delivery.

Canvas and Model-Driven Application Development

• Develop robust and highly customizable Canvas and Model-Driven apps that leverage advanced Power Fx formulas, custom controls, and modern design elements.
• Implement reusable components using Power Apps Component Framework (PCF) to extend app functionality beyond out-of-the-box features
• Optimize app performance by employing advanced techniques, such as data delegation strategies and efficient API calls.
• Design and develop apps with responsive layouts that deliver consistent end user experiences across devices.
• Use various connectors to connect disparate systems to Power Platform applications.

Automation and Workflows

• Create complex, multi-step Power Automate workflows incorporating conditional logic, loops, error handling, and custom connectors.
• Develop and support RPA (Robotic Process Automation) solutions using Power Automate Desktop to streamline manual business processes.
• Integrate Power Automate workflows with external systems via APIs, Webhooks, and custom connectors for seamless process automation.

UI/UX Design

• Proficiency in design tools like Figma or Adobe XD to create interactive prototypes.
• Knowledge of modern design principles, themes, and branding techniques for Power Apps.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to ensure clear design direction and align with stakeholder expectations.
• Utilize advanced prototyping tools such as Figma or Adobe XD to create interactive mockups that align design objectives with business goals.
• Incorporate modern design principles, themes, and branding into Power Apps to enhance usability and user engagement.
• Conduct user testing and iteratively refine application designs based on feedback.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or completion of a Post-secondary Diploma in Computer Science.
• Certifications (preferred): Microsoft Power Platform, such as Power Platform Developer Associate or equivalent. Azure (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Developer Associate).
• A minimum of 2 years related work experience developing and supporting Microsoft Power Platform or academic equivalent
• Experience with and a good understanding of the Power Platform Centre of Excellence and governance concepts.
• Experience using Azure Dev Ops.
• Experience in a heavy manufacturing industry would be an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The estimated salary for this position is $82,700 – $99,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
