We are currently seeking an In-house Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. They will provide legal advice, draft and negotiate agreements, support litigation management and manage licensing and compliance across all of NORR’s offices globally. A general understanding of consulting responsibilities, construction law and insurance would be considered an asset for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures that all prime contracts with our clients and subconsultant agreements are fair and are reviewed, edited, and signed by all parties in a timely manner
Drafts, reviews, and negotiates legal agreements to minimize NORR’s contractual risk
Assists in managing professional compliance and licensing obligations for NORR
Participates in developing internal guidelines, toolkits, and presenting to internal stakeholders regarding various legal and business issues.
Supports the Director in managing the company’s litigation
Reviews RFPs and proposals to ensure compliance with terms, conditions and company policies
Manage internal legal software
Required Skills
Must have completed related post-secondary education
Must have an LL.B or J.D.
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Must have excellent problem-solving skills through drawing on a number of known options to solve problems, present alternatives, and to offer solutions. Demonstrated ability to present creative solutions
Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills are essential
Must have computer skills to produce reports, documents, and presentations. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
Proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of contracts
A background in architecture or engineering is an asset
Require Experience
Must have 3-5 years’ experience in private practice or in-house counsel
Admitted member in good standing with a provincial law society or state bar
